If the memory of the choice you need to see things in 2.5 to:
1: The form factor. Most cameras take SD, but other storage media.
1.5: If the device supports SD, SDHC does it take? Physically, the same aspect, but SDHC will not work on many older cameras.
2.5: What is the maximum size of the camera? SDHC cards are as large as 32GB, but many cameras can be up to 8 GB.
The XSI has SD / SDHC. I am not sure whether (the maximum size but I would not buy more than 8 GB anyway).
While buyers are SDHC cards, it should work. To be done as a precautionary measure, do not buy their tickets on eBay and try to stick to the best-known brands.
SD or SDHC. Format the card into the device before use.
Once you download photos from your memory card to your PC, from the camera, do not remove to delete photos (while the card) into the PC.
After confirming your photos safe (in another medium, such as on your PC and backup CD / DVD / Web), and sometimes you can format the card in order to obtain optimal working conditions. It is better for the map on this, instead of deleting only. But - if you remember to disappear all formats of information / photos. If you have some photos that are stored in a clear manner, have made will be disposed of in a. Another good reason to store files on a PC and a camera.
You need to read more. What is said that some older cameras not SDHC (4GB and more) memory cards.
If you look in the manual, you will see that the XSi uses SD and SDHC cards. Each brand will work. Some that I have tested: Lexar, SanDisk, Transcend, PQI, A-Data, Kingston. All these guarantees are limited life.
There are a number of excellent brands and are very reliable (eg Sandisk, Lexar and Kingston), all fully compatible with XSI.
They want nothing less than a fast card, Class 6 Speed in XSI. SD cards are available in capacities up to 2GB and SDHC (SD High Capacity) are available with capacities of 4 GB
I recommend the SanDisk Extreme III SDHC (4 GB or 8 GB). You also need a card reader SDHC compatible allowed (the faster transmission of images on your computer).
Make sure the format of the new brand for the card (in the Camera menu) before first use ... and whenever you need to delete all files on the card.
The following link will give you an idea of how a number of these maps lead to the XSi ...
