Although I like L-lysine, is also not always prevent transmission of herpes.
Acyclovir has its place, and L-lysine.
An Italian study in The New England Journal of Medicine in 2004 showed that sero-discordant couples (one poz, neg a) valacyclovir (Valtrex) suppressive therapy, which has been consistently used condoms surprisingly low rate of infection previously negative partner. It was somewhere near 90% + the prevention of infections. Not bad. It is not perfect, but better than nothing.
So do not slag off the medication so quickly. Homeopathy has an important role in health, but also drugs.
